Descent Of The Holy Ghost Food Ordering

Terms of Service

Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE]

Draft — have a lawyer review this page before launch

This document is a starting point, not legal advice. The highlighted values below still need to be filled in:

  • Church legal name (the registered nonprofit entity)
  • Church street address (pickup location)
  • County and state for governing law and courts
  • Contact email for order and refund questions
  • Effective date

1.Agreement to these terms

These terms are a binding agreement between you and [CHURCH LEGAL NAME](“we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or placing an order through this website, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2.Who we are

Descent Of The Holy Ghost Food Ordering is run by our church community. We prepare the food ourselves and sell it directly to you — this website is our own ordering tool, not a marketplace or delivery platform. All food is sold for pickup at the church; we do not deliver.

3.Eligibility and your account

  • You must be at least 18 years old and located in the United States to create an account and place orders.
  • Sign-in is by magic link sent to your email — keep access to that email address secure, since anyone who controls it can access your account.
  • Provide accurate information (we use your name to hand you the right order at pickup) and keep it current on your profile page.
  • One account per person, and it is not transferable.

4.Orders and payment

Placing an order is an offer to buy; your order is confirmed once payment succeeds. All prices are shown in US dollars and may change from menu to menu, but the price you pay is the price shown at checkout.

  • Card paymentsare processed by Stripe on Stripe’s secure checkout page. Stripe emails you a receipt after successful payment.
  • Zelle, when offered, requires you to send the transfer as instructed at checkout; your order is confirmed once we verify the payment.
  • Unpaid orders expire. If payment is not completed within 24 hours of placing an order, the order is automatically cancelled and its items are released for others to buy.
  • Item quantities are limited. In the rare case we cannot fulfill a confirmed order, we will contact you and refund it in full.

5.Pickup

Orders are picked up at the church, [CHURCH STREET ADDRESS], on the pickup date and during the time window you selected at checkout. Bring your order confirmation or be ready to give the name on the order.

If you do not pick up your order during the pickup window, the food is forfeited without a refund — it was freshly prepared for you and cannot be resold. If an emergency keeps you from making it, contact us; we may, at our discretion, make arrangements or offer an exception, but we are not obligated to.

6.Cancellations and refunds

  • Free cancellation until two days before pickup. You can cancel an order from your orders page any time until two calendar days before your pickup date — for a Friday pickup, that means through end of day Wednesday. Cancelled paid orders are refunded in full to your original payment method; card refunds typically appear in 5–10 business days.
  • Within two days of pickup, orders are final. By then we have planned and begun preparing your food, so orders can no longer be cancelled. We may make exceptions at our discretion for emergencies — contact us at [CONTACT EMAIL].
  • If we cancel — for example, a pickup day is called off or we cannot fulfill your order — you receive a full refund.
  • Zelle payments, where applicable, are refunded by Zelle transfer back to you or as otherwise arranged with you.

7.Food preparation and allergens

Our food is prepared by community volunteers in the church’s kitchen. The kitchen is not an allergen-free facility: dishes are prepared in shared spaces with shared equipment, and cross-contact with common allergens (such as nuts, dairy, eggs, gluten, soy, and fish) is possible in any item, regardless of its listed ingredients.

We cannot guarantee that any item is free of any allergen. If you have a severe food allergy, please do not rely on menu descriptions or ingredient lists — the safest choice is not to order. You assume the risk of allergic reactions when you order.

8.Acceptable use

When using the service, you agree not to:

  • Use it for any unlawful purpose or to resell the food commercially.
  • Interfere with the service, attempt to access other users’ accounts or data, or probe its security.
  • Place orders you do not intend to pick up and pay for, or abuse the cancellation policy.

9.Our content

The website, including its text, images, and design, belongs to us or our licensors. You may use it to browse and place orders; please do not copy or reuse it for other purposes without our permission.

10.Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the website will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any menu item will always be available.

11.Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of the service or an order is limited to the amount you paid for the order giving rise to the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.

Some states do not allow certain warranty disclaimers or liability limitations, so parts of the sections above may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

12.Dispute resolution and governing law

If you have a problem, please talk to us first — email [CONTACT EMAIL] and we will do our best to resolve it informally. We are a church community; nearly every issue can be settled with a conversation.

If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, it will be handled in the state or small-claims courts located in [COUNTY], [STATE], and these terms are governed by the laws of [STATE], without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

13.Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will notify you by email or with a notice on the site. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.

14.Ending your account

You can stop using the service anytime and ask us to delete your account as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms. Confirmed orders placed before an account is closed are still honored or refunded under the cancellation policy above.
